We trust this
site has provided sufficient guidance on some areas that need to be
addressed in considering a franchise.
We strongly recommend that you obtain independent advice on the
contents of the Franchise Agreement from a solicitor who is
experienced in franchising.
Please be careful of advisers who may take a fee from a prospective
Franchisee to "verify" a franchise and then also take a
fee from a Franchisor.
Advisors mostly act as an Agent for the Franchisor and will receive
a fee for services rendered should you purchase a franchise
business through them. They can only act for one party, so be sure
that they declare who they are working for.
If you can, deal with advisers you already know, but make sure they
have sufficient expertise in the specialist area of franchising.
They too, should provide you with a written disclosure of
their experience and qualifications.
Only deal with advisors who can demonstrate that they have
extensive experience; to do otherwise is inviting
trouble.
At the end of
the day, it will always be your decision.
Do not let that make you afraid to proceed, but let it awaken your
awareness that risks are a part of business.
